New Mexico 2012

NEW MEXICO 5-27/6-7/12
Dan and Ali took a week long cruise to Alaska and I got to come to NM and babysit Dexter, Ophelia, and Bosley.    It was a great time!   The dogs were OK but Dexter was outstanding!   He was terrific to be with—wonderful to have him talking so much.   We had fun reading, going to the parks, taking walks, going to the zoo, and, of course, riding the bike.  Thankfully Allan came for 5 days around the weekend so he was able to ride bikes with Dexter (I’m not a biker) and Dex rides so fast that it is impossible to keep up just walking.   He never once had a potty mishap proving what a big boy he has become.    We baked banana bread and Dex got out all the ingredients and helped, helped, helped.   It was yummy!

This was the prettiest NM has seemed to me with so many trees and shrubs in bloom.  While Dex was in school on Friday Allan and I took a road trip through the surrounding area finding the delightfully  artsy small town of Madrid full of fun shops and people playing music as we walked around.  This was a spot to return to next time.  Dan and Ali had a great trip, too.   So, it was a wonderful time for all of us!

Columbia SC - Cousins & Volleyball

On the spur of the moment we decided to travel to Columbia SC to see the Lady Gators Volleyball team go for a perfect 20-0 mark in SEC play. This is something no team has done since the league began round robin play 7 years ago. The team is awesome and the win likely will make them the #1 seed in the NCAA tournament. A few pictures of the team are posted on the facebook link.
I remembered that I have three cousins that live in Columbia, so with a little help from modern email and smartphones we were able to have breakfast together the next morning. The picture shows from left to right, Dale (Barbara), Beth, me, Carol, and Aunt Anne Mae.
Also, are some cool picts of the South Carolina State house and the holiday decorations. link to pictures:
