Mom's June 2010

A visit with Mom. June 26-27, 2010

My mom lives a little over 2 hours from our home. Recently she moved into a vast home on Park Ave. in beautiful Fernandina Beach, Florida. For a visitor and a somewhat regular visitor to Fernandina Beach the town it is always enjoyable. Being with my mom has changed over the last few years mainly due to her age, 85 and with no forward adventures planned. Mom, Dottie to most, is a spry woman who still enjoys sitting outside and lighting up a Winston light.
Sharon, Mom and I went down to the beach for a walk, but Dottie was the first to say lets turn around; she does not have the same energy. Anyway here are a few shots of Mom, Sharon and me – later I’m in the not so vast swimming pool. Mom would love to have you stay for a day – she has room for 2.

Some of the beach shots: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=179341&id=617928368&l=8083db646a
PS: I have got to get a better camera, one a view finder.

Columbus Art Show 2010

Sharon and I left Cindy at her home in Medina and headed south to Columbus. It started raining and for awhile hit was severe and just when we saw sunshine we got smacked with hail. But we drove on and arrived at Columbus State College and sought out Heather, the weather was OK. It was cute to see the interaction of Cole and Luke the rest of the day. Enjoy the picture. It was a wonderful day. for facebook pictures go to:

NFL Hall of Fame - Canton, Ohio 2010

A visit to the National Football League Hall of Fame had long been on a check list of places to visit. I must say that I am not the biggest pro football fan, but do admit to being a long suffering Cleveland Browns fan. Guys like Jim Brown, Frank Ryan, Gary Collins, Leroy Kelly, Jim Huston, Lou Grozia captured my attention when I went to high school in the Cleveland area. My brother and I went to the last NFL Championship game the Browns won a 27-0 victory over the Baltimore Colts. This predates the Super Bowl showing how old I am and how long it has been since the Browns were great! Anyway enjoy the pictures of some of these players also included Dan Marino (who gave our family many great Dolphin thrills) and Jack Youngblood the 1st Hall of Famer from the Gators. Enjoy the pictures!

Netherton’s June 2010

Sharon and I had a chance to spend an evening with my sister Cindy and her husband Robert ‘Ned’ Netherton and their son Robert (Rob to us.) in Media. We enjoyed a great Chinese dinner at a restaurant in downtown Media. Rob showed us pictures from his recent two week visit to New Zeeland. He had beautiful pictures of mountains and shore line. We spent the night and in the morning visited Jason and Amber Netherton’s growing family, the newest Genna (2 weeks in the picture), Jason Jr. and Grace age 4. Also pictured is Cindy’s pet deer! Luke’s 1st Birthday Party

Well our main reason for coming to Ohio was to celebrate Luke Johnston’s 1st Birthday. A family party with mom, dad, brother Cole, his Grandma and Grandpa from Fairview Park, Ohio (Sally and Ron) and Nana and Grandfather (Sharon and I) was held and Luke ate a cupcake which dog Abby got the lion’s share. Luke was surrounded by presents that brother Cole mostly opened. I believe Luke was most taken by some great balls that his father bought that has all kinds of surfaces and movements. He also loved a little truck. Cole and Jeff loved the Star Wars light sabers as you can see from the pictures!
